First census of the South SkyLine

In this section of the Web site for the first time in Italy and perhaps in the world, are collected all the photographic images, supplied by information, which show the present, past and future, lighting condition towards the South Skyline, of the Observatories and of the astronomical positions used by professionals and amateurs. The invitation to take part to the Census of the South SkyLine is addressed to everyone. To join it is sufficient to look, in your own files, for images with the required characteristics, or to take a new photograph towards the South from the observation place, framing either the skyline or a vast overlooking portion of clear sky, possibly con-nected with the summer or winter Milky Way.

Primo censimento dello SkyLine Sud

In questa sezione del sito web per la prima volta in Italia e forse nel mondo, vengono raccolte tutte le immagini fotografiche, corredate di infor-mazioni che documentano lo stato attuale, passato e futuro, dell'illumina-zione, verso l'orizzonte sud, degli Osservatori e delle postazioni astronomi-che ad uso dei professionisti e dilettanti. L'invito a partecipare al Cens-imento dello SkyLine Sud è rivolto a tutti. Per aderire è sufficiente cercare nei propri archivi immagini con le caratteristiche richieste, oppure eseguire una nuova fotografia verso il Sud dalla località d'osservazione, inquadrando sia la linea dell'orizzonte, sia una vasta porzione sovrastante di cielo sere-no, possibilmente in corrispondenza della Via Lattea estiva o invernale.

It is sufficient to use a simple camera (set on B exposure time) equiped with a normal lens (better if wide-field), a tripod and with a flexible shutter release. For traditional cameras, films for colours sli-des with a medium sensitivity (200-400 ISO) are prefered, while the exposure time, depending on the opening of the diaphragm, will be chosen up to the reaching the sky glow. The shots can be taken also without compensating the apparent movement of the celestial sphere, in the night hours without the moon, but if they are taken counterbalancing the sidereal movement it will be better. In order to make a uniform documentation for on objective evaluation, any sort of image elaboration should be avoided. The images found in your files and/or purposely obtained can be sent in digital format

Per questo è sufficiente munirsi di una semplice macchina fotogra-fica (munita della posa B) dotata di un obiettivo normale (meglio se grandangolare), di uno stativo e di uno scatto flessibile. Per le foto-camere tradizionali si preferiranno pellicole dias a colori di media sensibilità (200-400 ISO), mentre il tempo di esposizione, in funzio-ne dell'apertura del diaframma, sarà scelto sino al raggiungimento del velo di fondo. Gli scatti fotografici possono essere presi anche senza compensare il movimento apparente della sfera celeste, nelle ore notturne senza Luna, ma se fossero esposti controbilanciando il movimento siderale si avrebbero migliori informazioni. Al fine però di uniformare tutta la documentazione per una obiettiva valutazione è bene evitare qualsiasi tipo di elaborazione sulle immagini. Anche le
