Asiago’s Astrophysical Observatory - The 122 cm telescope of the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory was built by the Officine Galileo of Florence between 1940 and 1942 and dedicated to Galileo Galilei on the occasion of the third centenary of his death. At the time it was the largest European telescope.
The primary mirror has a parabolic shape with an effective diameter of 122 cm and a central hole of 19.5 cm. The reflective layer, originally obtained with silver, is now made of aluminium.
