Abruzzo Astronomical Observatory - 2026.01.24 - Padiglione TNT (Teramo Normale Telescope): the second pavilion was constructed in the 1970s, in close proximity to the Zappa Pavilion. The TNT Pavilion currently houses the eponymous Teramo Normale Telescope (TNT), an instrument installed in 1995, deve-loped as part of a collaborative project between the Observatory and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. The TNT is a reflector telescope with an equatorial mount, featuring a Ritchey-Chrétien optical configuration with a focal length of 714 cm, a 72 cm primary mirror, and a secondary mirror of approximately 19 cm. A CCD detector, with a resolution of 1024×1024 pixels, is mounted at its focal plane for optical-band observations. Since 2012, the telescope has been enabled for remote observations and is employed both for scientific research and educational outreach. |
